Key changes you need to know

  • Statutory Sick Pay from day one, no earnings threshold

  • Paternity leave from day one

  • Unpaid parental leave from day one

  • Bereaved partner paternity leave introduced

  • Collective redundancy penalties up to 180 days’ pay per employee

  • Stronger whistleblowing protections

  • Holiday pay records mandatory for 6 years

  • New Fair Work Agency enforcement body launched

  • Large employers encouraged to publish gender pay gap and menopause plans

  • Trade union recognition process simplified

Changes to unfair dismissal protections will be introduced from 1 January 2027.
